June: Been a fairly rough last 4 days with over 200mm rain falling so lots of time spent inside Mr Jones. We even spent a few hours each day watching Netflix and DSTv, have to say that not much has changed in terms of TV offering, the scripts etc – don’t miss it at all.
June: Chilly nights at the moment due to all the snow that fell over the mountains just inland and over Lesotho, thanks to the cold front.
June: The storms of a week ago meant all the rivers come down in flood and the sea has thus been very dirty, so no surfing. It’s starting to cleanup but suspect some way to go still. Quite a few fidgety peeps in camp at the moment…
June: Surfing can be so frustrating, had a great day yesterday and a not good one today. Still being way to conservative with the waves I go for and thus missing far out many!
June: Hard to believe we have been stationary for almost 2 months which means we have slipped into a bit of routine for each day and a level of boredom. It is clear/confirms we prefer and want the nomadic life still.
June: Routine is a killer. We have slipped into a simple and easy routine of going down to the beach each morning, back up to camp for lunch and then wile away the afternoon until Tania either has to work or we maybe go for an afternoon walk. In between Stuart may wander down to the point to check the surf but all of this is along the same paths, around the some obstacles and with the some views.
June: A really nice morning in the water, caught a few nice waves and had fun but even with the prospect of some good swell coming am looking forward to new vistas
June: Another great morning in the water and 26Deg C weather, hard to think we are in the middle of winter. Went in again late afternoon but the swell had ramped up big time, huge waves running fast – confirmation that the cold front is going to hit us hard tomorrow.
June: Wet and rainy today. Spent a lot of time on the point watching the guys riding some huge waves, otherwise an inside day watching “TV” on the iPad.
June: On the road again, felt so good to be cruising the back roads, seeing new scenery, getting slightly off route and parking in a new place today. The Kraal backpackers is really pretty.
June: A long day on the road but a scenic one as we traversed the last part of the Transkei and popped out in Natal. The idea to overnight at “The Pont”, Tania old regular holiday spot on the river bordering Transkei quickly changed when the daily fee was rather high. A few kilometres further up the coast we stopped at T.O Strand, planning one night but ended up staying two.
June: Detour up to Hillcrest and a night at the farm, to collect Stuarts credit card. Also Stuart got a “new” puffer jacket plus some items for Mr Jones which we had bought online, from UK suppliers, with the intention of Devon bringing them out in May 2020. Covid put a stop to that visit and with still no end in sight until he maybe can visit we eventually had him courier them out.
